Changes that have taken place in the park: 

BEFORE...

• The shade sail has been hoisted! This was made possible by Fielding Construction, Pease Company, PRM Concrete, Mid City Steel, TricoShade, Inside Out Design, Warwick Sunbelt Rentals, Brown University, our incredible volunteers and the Providence Parks Department.
• A serpentine bike rack has been installed behind our shed for those riding to the park!
• Newly planted 'islands' have been created throughout the park grounds. Watch as the Children's Garden grows!
• Trex (recycled wood) was donated by the Trex Corporation and added to the retaining wall for more comfortable seating.
• The trash and recycling program has been established! We are proud to announce that we are the first park in the city to adopt a recycling program!  Thanks to Brown University for making it possible!
• The Adult Fitness area has been much improved!  No more mud pools beneath the equipment.
•  Vinyl signs have been designed and printed by Graphic Innovations.
• Tractor tires were donated by Ocean State Tire to create a fantastic new climbing structure and planter.
• The new sandbox was created by using recycled curbstones.  Our thanks to Lou Polseno and Son for donating their time and effort to help make our new playspace and also to the Providence Parks Department to make it happen!  
• What is that little wooden box in the park?  Our new garden shed was built for us by Shellback Cottages.
• Beautiful 50 year-old Rhodedendrons have been added in two locations.  Thanks to one of our Prospect Street neighbors for this generous donation!
• Our new perennial street side gardens have been planted, with many of the plants donated by the Groden Center and the Comstock Family. 
• The Department of Public Works and the Providence Parks Department have also set up a water connection so that we can maintain all of the new landscaping!

Phase II Details – Defined areas within the park for user groups

• The center of the park is defined as the area for families with babies and toddlers.
• The present playground will remain for older children and we plan to add more interesting climbing structures as well that cater to ages of 4 to 12.
• Quiet zones will be created closer to the top of the park for students, seniors or anyone seeking some down time.
• Gardens, shrubs and plantings will provide visual interest and separate different activity areas, such as 'fast' and 'slow' zones.
